I Asked the Blue Heron: A Memoir, my self published debut book, was released in November 2017.
My most sincere gratitude goes to Los Angeles literary community for their support welcoming a complete stranger at open mics and other events. I am particularly grateful to Women Who Submit for encouraging me to meet my writing goals and to Ashaki Jackson for giving my manuscript a much needed revision and me the support I needed to bring this book to life.
Uprising / Alzamiento is entirely dedicated to my beloved homeland, Venezuela. It was published by Finishing Line Press in September 2021. I am more than grateful to Leah Maines for the opportunity.
I also want to extend my gratitude to the Anansi Writers in Leimert Park where several of these poems were workshopped. I am also grateful to Xochitl-Julisa Bermejo, whose workshop inspired me to write the first drafts of this poetry collection. Finally, my gratitude and respect to the late, Peter J. Harris, whose guidance and mentoring were pivotal in my completing this project. Where he is, I hope to make him proud.
